YUNITY Park in Romania

June 2023 - Located in Pipera, the most dynamic business district in the north of Bucharest, YUNITY Park was refurbished in 2022. It is today one of the largest business parks in the city, conceived as a space fulfilling both professional and personal aspects of its users’ life. To convey a welcoming feeling in a modern environment, the architects from Metropolis Srl designed organic shapes for the interiors. They chose to use Corian^® Solid Surface color Glacier White for the interior vertical and horizontal claddings and for most of the furniture in the common spaces, such as the reception, the cafeteria and the restrooms. The result is a warm and convivial space.

The ambition of Genesis Property, the building’s owner, was to create a space responding to the collective aspiration for balance between work and life. Along with the most modern equipments for business activities, YUNITY Park will feature specially designed spaces for socialisation and relaxation, such as fitness facilities and a 4,000 square meter food hall. The former parking lot was turned into a 7,500 square meters natural urban forest integrating spaces for events, recreational experiences, and outdoor activities for a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

The owner was looking for a resistant material to sustain the intensive activity of the numerous users for the internal spaces. It also had to be versatile and with high aesthetics to achieve the elaborate design concept, so Genesis Property chose Corian^® Solid Surface colour glacier white.

Andreea Petre, Genesis Property Cost & Contract Manager explains: “We chose Corian^® Solid Surface for the conceptual versatility provided by its wide thermoforming properties, which allowed to create the organic shapes and the interior concept imagined by the architects. We were also attracted by its easy-to-clean properties and fungistatic characteristics, and its durability. For these features, Corian^® was an excellent choice for our project, ensuring a visually appealing, hygienic, and long-lasting solution. And the users are extremely happy and impressed by the state-of-the-art design.”

Overall, 2000 square meters of Corian^® were used in YUNITY Park. The interior cladding panels in Corian^® were used for the sloping edge, the pillars, the interior elevators walls and ceilings, creating an apparent seamless connection between spaces and integrating at the same time backlights and advanced ventilation systems. Corian^® was also used to create furniture, such as the reception desks, the cafeteria tables, and even the flower pots. And in the bathroom area, it features beautiful make-up tables and sinks. All the elements were created by an experienced Corian^® fabricator, Profi Stil SRL.

Adrian Lungu, General Manager at Profil Stil explains: “For us, this project was a real challenge. It was quite complex and all the objects were custom-made. It required a lot of creativity, both in the design phase and to find technical solutions. We had to be extremely precise in all the execution phases, in particular when molding and thermoforming Corian^®.”

Corian^® Solid Surface is a nonporous, seamless, low-VOC materials which helps creating hygienic, easy to clean and disinfect Healthy Spaces. Its surface prevents dirt and stains from penetrating the material, and its seamless look of integrated Corian^® worktops, counters, sinks, and coved backsplashes means there are no crevices to trap and grow mould, germs and viruses. This simplifies cleaning, sanitising and routine maintenance. Low VOC - as a low-VOC material, Corian^® Solid Surface is free from dangerous chemicals and hence supports better indoor air quality and Green Building certification.
