Bassano del Grappa, October 2024 – When SES, a subsidiary of the Austrian Spar group, acquired the Il Grifone shopping centre in Bassano del Grappa, Italy, they initiated a major refurbishment project focused on sustainability. The 20,000-square-meter space opened in 2009 is home to 47 stores and a hypermarket, attracting around 2.5 million visitors annually. Thanks to the durability, restorability, and repairability of Corian® Solid Surface, SES was able to restore the Corian® bathroom surfaces without the need for replacement, aligning perfectly with their environmental objectives while preserving the centre’s modern aesthetic.

Corian® Solid Surface was renovated in the six bathroom areas— two for men, two for women, and two nurseries. All bathrooms feature thermoformed surfaces and seamlessly integrated washbasins refurbished in collaboration with Linea Pannelli, official distributor of Corian® for northern Italy. In its commitment to sustainable development, SES aimed to refresh key areas of the centre without resorting to wasteful replacements, emphasising the importance of minimising unnecessary waste throughout the renovation process.

By choosing to renovate the Corian® Solid Surface bathroom surfaces, SES aligned with Spar’s long-term sustainability vision, demonstrating how innovative, eco-friendly materials can create functional and visually appealing spaces.
