December 2023 - Luxury and history intersect at "Upper Eastside Berlin". Inspired by the famous district in New York in a prime location on the corner of Friedrichstrasse / Unter den Linden, this building complex is a showcase of elegance and prestige. Sitting on a site that dates back almost 500 years, "Upper Eastside Berlin" boasts a modern and high-end design, making it the ultimate destination for luxury living and working in the heart of the city.
The eleven-story building complex has high-quality shops on the ground floor, spacious office space on the intermediate floors, while the two upper storeys present themselves as exclusive city apartments. The winners of the architects’ competition for the eight largest luxury apartments were the architectural team led by Annette Axthelm from Potsdam. They took on the task of creating exclusive living spaces out of the particularly large living areas ranging from 300 to 400 m², which gave the challenge of having many dark areas.

The architects played with the use of light, brightness, perspectives, and versatility of the floorplan by incorporating large doors that pivot and slide to open and connect nearly all rooms. To maintain a bright and seamless design, the doors in the bathrooms, as well as the entire bathroom furnishings were executed with a bright white tone and a seamless design.
Annette Axthelm chose Corian® Glacier White for the built-in components, wall coverings and bathrooms. To implement this exclusive assignment, Axthelm relied on the proven team that had already implemented some of her high-quality designs. The main contract was awarded to the interior fitter Flömö from Falkenau, who was responsible for the well executed on-site implementation as well as producing the furniture on this occasion. The industrial-manufacturing company HASENKOPF applied their expertise in fabricating Corian® Solid Surface and were involved in planning and providing precise and specific solutions. The integration of the Corian® elements were carried out by HASENKOPF in close coordination with the architects and the interior builder.

Even though there were several materials and providers available to create objects and surfaces that were seamless and made of homogeneous material, in the long term, warranty problems arose with all of the alternative materials. "Through the consistent use of Corian® Solid Surface material and by relying on the expertise of Quality Network fabricator and materials expert HASENKOPF, we were able to achieve impeccably executed thermoformed curves and seamless finishes, perfectly integrated with the other materials selected for the rooms. Corian® Solid Surface is a non-porous, seamless, low-VOC material which helps creating hygienic, easy to clean and disinfect Healthy Spaces.
