Montblanc Haus in Hamburg

”Corian® was meticulously crafted to produce one-of-a-kind pieces reflecting the sophistication of high craftsmanship. Behind this sober elegance lay hidden challenges in execution that were mastered, fading away behind pure elegance.” Daniel Meszaros, architect, founding partner at Projectiles

December 2023 - Step into Montblanc Haus, a 3,600 square meters exhibition space dedicated to the artistry of crafting iconic writing instruments by Montblanc. Designed by Nieto Sobejano Architectos, the building echoes the brand’s rich legacy. Inside, luminous spaces designed by French architecture company Projectiles invite visitors to embrace the timeless tradition of writing. Corian® Solid Surface plays a crucial role, featuring Cameo White, Deep Nocturne, Glacier Ice and Athena grey Corian® colours for wall and ceiling claddings, furniture, and exhibition displays with extraordinary mirror polished finish.

The ingenious integration of Corian® defines the essence of Montblanc Haus. Crea Diffusion, an experienced France-based Corian® Fabricator member of the Quality Network Program worked hand in hand with Projectiles exploring and leveraging the full spectrum of Corian® possibilities to create this stunning project.

Its application spans the permanent exhibition, the shop and the café. In the space’s high ceiling, an impressive 7-meter Corian® wall cladding is engraved to depict the Mont Blanc mountain. Upstairs, furniture and displays showcase artistic precision, featuring intricately embedded glass vitrines. Meanwhile, the shop introduces an innovative combination of pleated non-woven fabric integrated into the backlit Glacier Ice Corian® racks. Notably, the 360-degree immersive space impresses with its Deep Nocturne tubes, its spectacular Deep Nocturne ceiling Athena Grey Corian® elements, adding a captivating contrast to the environment. The 850 kg suspended Corian® ceiling is fixed with 4 cables, and was a remarkable feat to create, considering the complexity of working at such heights with a large and heavy piece.

Daniel Meszaros, architect and founding partner at Projectiles explains: “The Montblanc leadership team wholeheartedly embraced our vision when they witnessed Corian®’s potential. They saw how it could achieve intricate finishes, engrave motifs onto expansive interior facades, seamlessly assemble panels, and incorporate sophisticated backlighting. This echoed Montblanc’s profound 120-year heritage of precision proficiency. Harnessing Crea Diffusion’s expertise, we achieved unrivalled technical excellence. Corian® was meticulously crafted to produce one-of-a-kind pieces reflecting the sophistication of high craftsmanship. Behind this sober elegance lay hidden challenges in execution that were mastered, fading away behind pure elegance.”

Thierry Delles adds: “Such a project really relies on understanding its essence and the architect’s aesthetic goal. Each obstacle encountered was an opportunity for growth, compelling us to push the boundaries of artistry and problem-solving. We had to develop creative solutions to overcome issues related to the extreme thermoforming of Deep Nocturne Corian® ensuring a flawless mirror finish, seamlessly integrating multimedia elements, creating the monumental mountain-themed Corian® panels and apply innovative applications in boutique designs. This project is indeed an impressive demonstration of Corian®’s almost infinite possibilities.”

Over nearly four years, the project is the collective achievement of an international team. It displayed meticulous artisanship, navigating challenges of language and technology. Projectiles and Crea Diffusion showcased Corian®’s adaptability in luxury design. Unanimous leadership approval and Montblanc’s endorsement solidified Corian® as the essence of quality, echoing Montblanc’s longstanding finesse.
